Exploring the Stars. October 15, 2007 — December 13, 2008
| Description | Western is offering free star gazing nights three times a week throughout the fall and winter. Following a main presentation, participants will be given a tour of the observatory, and have the option of being led through related hands-on or computer activities. Presentation topics include: Life in the Universe, Our Solar System, Stars, Galaxies, Missions to Space, Comets & Asteroids and the Earth/Moon System. Weather permitting, visitors can also use the observatory's telescopes under the guidance of members of the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada. "Exploring the Stars" will be offered on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday evenings, *October 15 to December 13, and January 14 to April 17*. Two open houses will be held this year as well, on *Friday, October 26 and Friday, November 30*, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. For more information or to make reservations, please visit www.astro.uwo.ca/exploringthestars or call 519-661-3183. |

Call for Nominations - Pillar Community Innovation Awards 2008. May 15, 2008 — September 12, 2008
| Description | Share. Inspire. Recognize. The Pillar Community Innovation Awards celebrate the ways in which innovation, leadership and collaboration in the nonprofit sector have made our community better. It is time to shine a light on those who are making a difference in and around our city. If you know of an individual or organization in the London area that has demonstrated dedication, creative solutions or a collaborative spirit, consider nominating them for a Pillar Community Innovation Award. The four award categories are: Community Innovation, Community Leadership, Community Impact, and Community Collaboration. A Red Tent Event for London Mothers. September 21, 2008
| Description | Tell your BIRTH Story as part of London's BOLD Action! Come out and share your birth story in a safe, intimate and sacred environment. We welcome all women to be part of this opportunity to speak, listen and be heard. Through the gathering of birth stories from our BOLD Red Tent locations, BOLD will create a traveling exhibit to educate, tell the truth and inspire people around the world to take action to make maternity care mother-friendly. Your story can be part of this library and help inspire childbirth choices for mothers. Please join us and share your story. Now is your time to be BOLD! WHEN: Sunday, September 21st, 2008 WHERE: Lotus Centre, 140 Ann Street, Session 1: 10:00 am – 12:30 pm Session 2: 1:30 pm - 4:00 pm There is a minimum $10 donation to attend and space for each session is limited to 15 women.
