GET OUTSIDE, HAVE FUN, LEARN SOMETHING NEW ABOUT NATURE
August 23rd is “Nature Discovery Family Day” at Springbank Park
Kids and their families can get outside, have fun and learn about nature at Springbank Park at “Nature Discovery Family Day”, a hands-on, interactive family conservation event sponsored by Ontario Nature, Ontario Power Generation, the Upper Thames River Conservation Authority and the City of London.
Sunday, August 23, 2009:
Nature Discovery Family Day
Where: Springbank Park - 1148-1260 Commissioners Rd West between Boler Road and Springbank Drive, London (watch for signs)
When: 11:00 am – 3:00 p.m.
What: Themed tents with activities for all ages, including:
• “Forest Buddies” - preschool nature activities for little ones to learn about nature through crafts, story-telling and hands-on activities
• Water festival activities with enviroscapes, interactive displays
• Tweet This! - bird feeder and bird house building
• Dig This! - learn about species at risk, check out touchable turtle and mussel shells

OPG Biodiversity 2009 is a series of province-wide conservation-focused, family-friendly action and education events sponsored by Ontario Power Generation in partnership with Ontario Nature, LEAF (Local Enhancement and Appreciation of Forests) and the Bruce Trail Conservancy. Its goal is to spread the word about protecting and conserving biodiversity in our urban parklands and forest ecosystems, making it easy for people to get involved with protecting the environment and fighting climate change. Biodiversity 2009 builds on OPG’s commitment to conserving, sustaining and protecting nature.
