| Description | An eight-city exhibition tour showcasing the work of the 15 semi-finalists of the RBC Canadian Painting Competition stops in London. Celebrating its 10th anniversary, the competition aims to raise the awareness of emerging Canadian visual artists. Governor General Michaëlle Jean announced Jeremy Hof from Vancouver as the national winner and Amanda Reeves from Oakville and Will Murray from Montreal as the honourable mentioned. An unprecedented $145,000 in prize money was awarded for this year, including $25,000 to the winner, $15,000 to each of the honourable mentioned and $7,500 to the remaining semi-finalists. |

New Kids Art Classes. January 22, 2009 — April 5, 2009
| Description | Beginning in 2009, kids of all ages can discover their creative side with refreshing new Kids Art Classes at Museum London. Early Explorations Ages 2 to 4 accompanied by a parent or caregiver Wednesdays, February 25 to April 8 9:30 to 11:30 am Cost: $100 advance enrolment ($115 after pre-registration date) Playful Puppets Moms, dads and caregivers accompany their little ones for a fun session of artmaking, stories, snacks, crafts and songs. This winter puppets are on parade. Come with your tots and make finger and hand puppets out of a variety of materials such as socks and paper bags. Explore shadow puppetry and marionettes using felt, string, feathers and an assortment of other materials. Refreshments provided courtesy of Museum London. Jump Start Ages 5 to 8 Saturdays, January 24 to March 7 10:00 am to 12:00 pm Cost: $110 advance enrolment ($125 after pre-registration date) Fantastical Figures Monsters, goblins and elves come alive in this workshop. Join us to conjure strange beings out of felt, paper, cloth and old clothes. Then dress up as your favourite monster and bring it to life through movement and sound. Fun and Fundamentals Ages 9 to 12 Saturdays, January 24 to March 7 12:30 to 2:30 pm Cost: $110 advance enrolment ($125 after pre-registration date) Picture Perfect Rules are meant to be broken! Learn the elements of proportional drawing. Budding artists will develop drawing skills and use any number of media – from paint to collage to assemblage – to work on self portraits and portraits, while exploring the history of Realism, Mannerism, Cubism and Abstraction, caricature and cartooning in art. Edgy Encounters Ages 13 to 16 Thursdays, January 11 to March 5 6:30 to 8:30 pm Cost: $110 advance enrolment ($125 after pre-registration date) Body Shop Tune Up This totally cool workshop explores body ornamentation. Themes will include body painting techniques and special effects used in the movies, tattoos and piercings, costume, fashion and performance. Participants will learn about art movements such as Conceptual art, Happenings and Fluxus while working on their projects. Non-Stop Art: March Break Camp Ages 6 to 8 and 9 to 12 March 16 to 20 8:30 am to 4:30 pm Cost: $200 advance enrolment ($225 after March 1) Techno Tools Watching too much television during the March Break? Turn off the TV and play with equipment in another way! Join us for a week of exploration into a variety of technology-based art media, such as overhead projectors, animation, scratched film animations, slide projectors, digital photography, Polaroid transfers, video and sound. Professional Activity Day Camps Cost: $30 advance enrollment ($40 after pre-registration date) From Classroom to Studio Ages 6 to 8 and 9 to 12 Professional development is for kids, too! Join us for day-long workshops where children will be introduced to new techniques for making art, all inspired by works on display in the Museum. Paper Capers January 30, 2009 8:30 am to 4:30 pm (advance enrolment by January 16) From plant to paper! Our talented instructor studied papermaking in Mexico and will pass her knowledge on to youngsters in a day-long workshop devoted to that most versatile media: paper. Children will learn how to make hand-made paper from fibre, and will explore collage, paper cut-outs and other related techniques. Spell The End of Parkinson's. March 28, 2009
| Description | This enjoyable fundraiser is a one-day Scrabble® tournament, with money raised going to support services throughout Southwestern Ontario. Local groups, with the aid of the Regional Office, play host to the tournaments. There are both social and competitive divisions, giving everyone an opportunity to play. London's 5th annual tournament will be held Saturday, March 29th, 2008, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at London's Covent Garden Market, with registration beginning at 9:00 a.m. Call the Regional Office to register in advance at 519-652-9437. |

Tea for Two, or More!. March 29, 2009
| Description | This event, which raises funds and awareness for Parkinson's, allows individuals, groups, businesses and friends of Parkinson Society Canada across Ontario to host a Tea for Two, or more! In return for tea, coffee or other beverages, those attending are encouraged to make a donation to Parkinson Society Canada. Proceeds help support local programs and initiatives. The 6th annual Dishington's Tea for Two, or more! will be held Sunday, March 30th, 2008. Enjoy an afternoon of tea and scones, soft music, and elegant surroundings, hosted by Dishington's Tea House owner Laurie Watters and our hardworking volunteer committee.
