Pillar Community Innovation Awards – Call for Nominations open April 1.
The Community Innovation Awards highlight how the nonprofit sector’s innovation, leadership,
and collaboration improves the quality of life in London and surrounding area.
The four award categories are: Innovation, Leadership, Impact and Collaboration. Don’t miss this fantastic opportunity to nominate individuals, nonprofits and charities, businesses and government sector organizations who work with the nonprofit sector to make our community brighter. Nominations will be accepted from April 1- June 30th.
Award recipients will receive $2500 to be directed to the registered charity of their choice.

This is the question author and journalist Chris Turner asked before travelling the globe in search of hope for a sustainable future. The result of his findings presents a global survey on the state of the art in sustainable living – the people who live it and the lessons to be learned. His voice rises in hope in a chorus of environmental recriminations.
Author Chris Turner comes to the University of Western Ontario to discuss his book, "The Geography of Hope: A Tour of the World We Need," on April 7, 2010 from 4:30-6:00 p.m. in the University Community Centre, room 146.
Turner is the author of the international bestseller "Planet Simpson: How A Cartoon Masterpiece Documented an Era and Defined a Generation."

On Monday April 12, 2010, the Centre for Planetary Science and Exploration (CPSX)at the University of Western Ontario hosts a series of events to celebrate Yuri's Night 2010.
• 11:00 a.m.: keynote address by Astronaut Steve MacLean, current president of the Canadian Space Agency - location TBD.
• 3-5:00 p.m.: A panel of space experts discussing the future of human space exploration - Biological and Geological Sciences, room 0153.
• 7-9:00 p.m.: The Cronyn Observatory will be open for anyone interested in some stargazing.
Yuri's Night is an international celebration held on April 12th every year to celebrate humanity’s achievements in space. This date marks the anniversary of Yuri Gagarin’s first flight into space in 1961, and the first launch of the US Space Shuttle in 1981. Yuri's Night aims to increase public interest in space exploration and to inspire a new generation of explorers.
